Cute picture of the day:

P1010197 Cameron spent a week last summer learning how to sail. In the picture, he is at Pillar Point Harbor, about two miles from where I grew up. My dad had a boat there when I was a little girl. The water there is very cold, so you have to wear a wetsuit in case you fall in. Of course Cameron fell in twice. There are seals on rafts that you can see in the background just above Cam’s head. They bark at you if you get too close. They smell icky, but are very cute. This is what a harbor seal looks like up close:

Testing Thursday

So how was the first day of testing? I hope it went well for you all…

Teacher picture of the day:

silly9This is me when I was in fourth grade. I participated in equestrian vaulting and I was in a competition where you can see the medal I won. The horse gallops (runs) or trots (jogs) in a circle on a line that is kind of like a leash. As the horse is going around in the circle, the vaulter jumps on the horse and does a variety of tricks. You can read about vaulting here. The horse’s name was Belle and she was very tall. I was able to stand on her back without holding on while she was galloping around. It was very fun and not scary to me at all. We also rode another horse whose name was Clyde and he was red-haired and even taller than Belle. He was skinnier too and not as easy or comfortable to ride.

Tiptoe Tuesday

Problem of the day:

What is the fractional probability of spinning a purple? Green? Red?

Silly picture of the day:

skippy

This is Skippy. He is the youngest of our cats. He will be two in July. In this picture, he is sitting on top of Cameron’s fish tank watching Fishy Fishy swim. He loves Fishy Fishy. Skippy sits watching him swim for long periods of time. I think he would like to eat the fish, but he can’t (yet) figure out a way into the tank.

Good Morning!

After morning work and CST practice test, please go to this link:

Congruence and Symmetry

When you are finished, please show me your score.

Then you may go to Moby Language.

faire2This is me with one of the stars of the Discovery Channel television show “Mythbusters” at the Renaissance Faire last year. If you haven’t seen the show, it is very interesting. They use science and experiments to determine whether common ideas and myths are true or not. One episode is about Ben Franklin discovering electricity with a kite. You can watch it here at home. (Get permission first!)

Flying Squirrel Friday

This amazing animal is not a bird, but rather a mammal. It does not have wings, but rather extra skin between its arms and legs that acts as a parachute.

Cute picture of the weekend:

bedoffoolsSomeone asked for a picture of all five cats at once, but I could only manage four. My bed is messy, so ignore it. I didn’t want to disturb the kitties in order to make it. Great excuse, right?
